A Flower Without Sun

I have been waiting for too long trying to think of the right thing to say to get back into this... Brian and I have been through a lot these past few years: We lost his mother to cancer, we almost lost my father who was in critical condition after getting hit by a drunk driver, We were devastated when our tour trailer was stolen with every piece of gear we have collected over the years... We had to stop and let life kick us about for a while and help our respective families out in our hometowns in Nevada before being able to consider writing and touring again.
This band has always been my biggest love and coming back to this I wanted to treat the next CD with as much respect and passion as the first and match the intensity with the intensity you have all shown me in your love of this project. Brian and I thought "What would our biggest fantasy be... if we could work with anyone...who would it be?" The answer was Joey Z of Life Of Agony/Carnivore fame. The guy who inspired me through the years and is the guitar player for my favorite band: Life Of Agony.
So, we packed everything up and moved across country to New York in hopes that he would work with us. I was incredibly intimidated when I left a message on the studio answering machine of my idol and was floored when he called me back personally. We made an appointment to start recording the demos I had made from years on hiatus and I was nervous because I was going to have to track guitar in front of my idol.
The recording date comes and I have to say Joey is probably one of the coolest guys I have ever met. This guy who by the way just played Polish Woodstock with Life Of Agony a few weeks ago to 500,000 people as a headliner is respectful to anyone tracking with him. I met artists who were at many different levels musically and Joey was just awesome to everyone... I have knicknamed him the Mayor of Brooklyn because he seemed so scary to me when I would watch him as this Brooklyn kill the shit out of your guitar Hardcore Dude in music videos and then met like the nicest guy who respects everyone and their art.
Brian, Joey and I had "Musical Kismet" from "Hello." I always heard about these stories about how you meet someone and you just click but we felt like we were reunited with a long lost family member. Joey recorded us and then just picked up the guitar and played for our track "A Flower Without Sun." We were all so excited about how this sounds we wanted to share it with you while we are recording the rest of this CD together. There is a lot of my heart in this song for you...and of course more will be coming...
Love & Respect

P.S. I know that you all want pictures of this... I am a little camera shy but will put something together soon so you can all get your internet fix. In the meantime... I know that many of our fans are more Gothic than Metal and might know Joey Z from Carnivore(Peter Steele from Type O Negative's 2nd band), but if you love us - you will love Life Of Agony. You can check them out here: www.myspace.com/lifeofagony
New shows...Recording new album
Feb 12, 2007
I want to thank all of The Greatest Fear's Amercian friends for being so patient while we have been playing international shows. I feel that my experiences out of the country have made me a more well rounded individual... I have been forever changed. It is my desire to bring you the best album I can & I fnally feel that I can truly deliver a strong sophmore effort. Little changes in life affect people and "life" has certainly been having it's way with me. I've learned to welcome it and drink it wildly from the cup. Creation is an amazing process that needs life or it will starve - I spent a while coveting the initial success that we had and trying to force out another great album and had writer's block. I found that once I sat back and embraced the personal issues that have sprung up in my life I can write with ease. Turmoil truly can breed inspiration. I scratched a lot of the original material that I had been working on for the next album as I am musically taking this project in the way it was always intended to go. Many try to pigeon-hole this band as metal or gothic metal etc. I found myself pinned down trying to please - instead I will just do what I do- and write songs The Greatest Fear way.
Thank you for waiting- It won't be much longer for The Locust Queen's successor...

Jane

P.S. Thank you Brazil The Greatest Fear fans - you are truly inspirational! Your wonderful emails and cards are truly touching.

I love everyone for making this happen...
I will start working on another album soon- I have grown immensly as an artist and will make sure - even if I have to go in debt on recording costs that the album after this will be bigger and better! I would like more of you who have bought the album to come out to see us live - because I have a SICK live line-up right now and have been playing shows with many bands that are great musicians and solid people.
Arizona friends of The Greatest Fear all I can say is "Wow!" The Greatest Fear kicked of our Arizona tour rotation with two amazing shows! First with "Blessed Be Thy Name" and "Eyes Of Fire (Century Media)" and then another show with "Element A440" and "Dissonance." I don't know what is going on in Arizona but L.A. should be ashamed of itself. Each band (and I had to see at least 8 bands) from AZ was amazing. Everyone put on a stellar show - the crowds were huge and incredibly fun to talk to!
RESPECT & LOVE to Arizona,
Jane
